Agricision mobile & ecommerce
As a freelance project I worked on the design of an Android app and ecommerce site for a Bluetooth Agricultural guidance device, Agricision. Throughout working with the business, I designed and developed an ecommerce site, designed branding and marketing materials, and designed their Android app.
About Agricision
When driving a tractor across a field, it can be hard to see where you’ve been. Duplicated work is less efficient and can be bad for the environment in excess chemicals. Driving in neat, parallel lines across a wide open space is hard. Farmers rely on expensive GPS technology to guide them in straight lines and reduce duplication.
That’s where onTrak by Agricision comes in, guiding farmers on straight lines across their field, recording coverage in the app.
iOS and Android design
Agricision is a mobile app solution to an expensive problem, relying on an external receiver to provide more accurate GPS. An iOS and Android app connects to the bluetooth GPS receiver.
The app is used to setup the machine working width, generate straight and curved guidance lines, map area worked, measure fields and much more.
Features
Understanding the nuances of the machine setup and process helped get the right user prompts and keep the overall app concept simple to users who may be unfamiliar with GPS technology and terminology.
Features
Screenshots from finished iOS App. One aspect of design was paying special attention to the size of buttons – really empathising with users in a bouncy cab operating the app. I made a fully interactive Figma prototype, and the end result is on the iOS and Android store.
Multiplatform
I worked across mobile and tablet on iOS and Android. I reused components as much as possible, as the underlying technology was built using a common cross-platform rendering engine. I designed platform specific wrappers that used each platform’s native components and patterns.
Website
I worked on the design & build of the Woocommerce site. This was a large and interesting marketing and information design challenge, working on everything from shop pages to comparison charts. The typography and simplicity were very important to get right.
This also involved commissioning 3D artists to generate and stylise product shots.
